Background: Knives Out is a mystery movie that came out in 2019.

Problem: The goal of the project was to recreate a movie poster that would be the basis for accompanying promotional materials and web and mobile designs.

Process: I wrote down a list of recent movies that I had seen and selected Knives Out because I enjoyed watching it. Since the movie has a murder mystery theme and the audience is trying to figure out who committed the crime throughout the film, I decided to combine elements of the board game Clue with the characters of the movie to emphasize the mystery to the viewer. I took images of the classic board game cards and used masks and the brush tool in Photoshop to combine this with each character. I combined these cards with the magnifying glass that was featured in the original poster to create the composition.

Solution: The redesigned poster and the mobile and web designs all feature the board game cards for each character, the movie title and the magnifying glass. Across all pieces of the campaign, the magnifying glass is used as an element to put emphasis on the character cards and lead the viewer to the movie title or the call to action buttons.
